I’d like to take a break from my normal approach to these emails and encourage you to listen to this message preached by Melito of Sardis during an Easter Vigil around AD 175. The term “Easter” was not used in the early church, but Pascha - referencing the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus to the Old Testament typology in the Passover from Exodus 12. You can listen to a reading of the homily - or read it here. You will notice that Melito’s homily would be just as relevant today as it was in the second century - you will also notice that the Apostolic foundations of the church (though they have been, and are now, attacked) remain intact. The Lord has graciously stewarded His word in such a way that a message from c.175 AD, would preach just as powerfully in 2017, what a wonderful inheritance we have in Him!

Please pray
For those who attended services throughout our region last week - that the Holy Spirit would be at work in stirring, comfort, conviction, or conversion in the hearts of all who heard the Gospel preached.
For those in our church who suffer illness - that they would know the Lord and his mercy.
For the officers of Coram Deo, that the Lord would bless the families of our elders and deacons, and grant us wisdom as we seek to glorify the Lord in our fellowship.
